KCC Sustainability Plan Presentation at Student Congress General Meeting
JOIN US: Implementing sustainable practices at KCC
As a community comprised of students, faculty and staff, we each contribute to creating a sustainable and resilient campus, community and planet.
KCC's Office For Institutional Effectiveness would like to invite students and student groups to the upcoming Student Congress general meeting to learn more about the KCC Sustainability Plan, and opportunities for students to implement sustainable practices on campus.
Areas of focus related to the campus will include:
WASTE: reducing and preventing waste, composting, recycling
FOOD: sustainable food systems, reducing food miles, edible landscapes
WATER: conservation, rainwater capture, greywater reuse
CLIMATE: carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation
CLEAN ENERGY: installation of solar and energy efficient technology
TRANSPORTATION: co-operative and clean energy alternatives
The purpose of this presentation is to (1) invite students and student groups to work with "CSCAI" and Student Congress to increase sustainable practices on campus through daily routines, existing projects, and new projects, and (2) identify areas that students would like support from the campus or community to implement sustainable practices.
- Wednesday, January 16th, 2019
- ʻIliahi Building, Room 123
- 3:30-4:30 Student Congress General Meeting
- 4:30-5:00 Sustainability Presentation
Implementation of the KCC Sustainability Plan is guided by members of CSCAI, the "Campus Sustainability & Climate Action Implementers" group. This group is comprised of representatives from each of KCC's Authorized Governance Organizations (AGOs), which include Student Congress, Faculty Senate, Kalāualani, and Staff Council, as well as representatives from administration.
The goals and action steps of KCC's Sustainability Plan also play an important role in supporting the sustainability and climate adaptation goals of the City and County of Honolulu and the State of Hawaiʻi.
We would like to invite you to join us in this collaborative endeavor, and to share this invitation with other students.
